This week, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced his latest budget proposal, standing by his original tax plans. This announcement sparked strong Republican opposition. This revision follows February’s initial proposal, which Senate Republicans vowed to block.

4. Parkland Survivors 

This week the second survivor of the deadly February 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida committed suicide. This news comes just weeks after another Marjory Stoneman Douglas student committed suicide. Other survivors and activists came together to mourn the loss.

5. Green New Deal Vote

On Tuesday of this week, all Senate Republicans and four Senate Democrats voted against the Green New Deal, a resolution sponsored by Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D., Mass.), while forty-three Democratic senators just voted “present.”
